Flowers
04:21
|
|||
i put your flowers in a jar beside my bed
that night before i went to sleep
thoughts of you danced in my head
and when i woke, my room smelled sweet
waved goodbye to all my grey skies
and let your sunlight burn me up
and even though i’d end up blistered
still i couldn’t get enough
and now it’s easier to breathe
these spring rains will wash me clean
i’ll take the flowers
that we’d grown
and plant a garden all my own (g)
i tore down the walls you built me
and built new ones painted blue
but every time i saw the sunshine
it reminded me of you
i took the flowers from my bedside
and the stars out of my eyes
and as the blindness was subsiding
i saw the flowers all had died

When you were Young
02:53
|
|||
when you were young with flowers in your hair
staring off into that great big world out there
filled with hope that you could have it all
what a shame that the petals had to fall
when you were young
when you were young
colors shone brighter
and life dragged on
when you were young
when you were young
you never dreamt one day
it’d all be gone
when you were young your eyes were filled with light
but you stared at the sun and it just got too bright
your dreams became sun spots, colors lingering in your brain
but all too soon they began to fade away
when you were young
when you were young
colors shone brighter
and life dragged on
when you were young
when you were young
you never dreamt one day
it’d all be gone
and looking back on it now
you wonder that there’s not a way to turn back time somehow
when you were young
when you were young
colors shone brighter
and life dragged onp
when you were young
when you were young
you never dreamt one day
it’d all be gone
